Laulhère Berets: Over 180 Years of French Heritage!
Share
Few accessories capture the elegance, charm, and cultural significance of French style quite like a Laulhère beret. Founded in 1838 in the south of France, Maison Laulhère has been crafting berets in the same historic factory for nearly two centuries. Today, it proudly stands as the oldest beret maker still in operation.
From the very beginning, founder Pierre Laulhère set uncompromising standards, personally sourcing the finest merino wools across Spain for their softness and quality. His son Lucien Laulhère carried this legacy forward, mastering and preserving the ancestral techniques of beret-making while ensuring the knowledge was passed carefully from one generation to the next.
To this day, Laulhère berets are made in Oloron-Sainte-Marie. Within these workshops, craftsmanship is passed hand to hand, craft to craft. Each artisan plays a vital role in preserving this rare heritage, contributing their skill and dedication to every step of production.
Traditional methods—such as knitting, felting, shaping, dyeing, and finishing—are still practiced with precision and care. Combined with premium French merino wool, these techniques ensure berets that are not only beautiful, but made to last.
Signature styles like the Éridan beret celebrate the house’s heritage while embracing modern expression. Adorned with embroidered patches that evolve each season, the Éridan is both a tribute to history and a collectible piece of contemporary design.
Each Laulhère beret is designed as one size, crafted from flexible merino wool that naturally adapts for a comfortable, personalized fit. To adjust, simply pinch and gently pull the edge of the beret little by little until it sits perfectly.
Owning a Laulhère beret is more than a style choice, it’s wearing a piece of living history, crafted with generations of passion, skill, and artistry. We’re thrilled to bring Laulhère to Posh.
à bientôt,
