Designer Spotlight: Mansted!
Share
Since its founding in 2002, Mansted has been creating knitwear that blends timeless design with playful sophistication. Based in Denmark, the brand is the vision of designer Charlotte Mansted, who has built a label celebrated for its craftsmanship, attention to detail, and thoughtful approach to colour and texture.
There collections, released twice a year, are designed to be worn, loved, and cherished year after year. Every sweater, cardigan, and pullover is carefully crafted from high-quality, natural fibres, ranging from soft cotton and Merino blends to luxurious yak wool. The colours are iconic, ranging from vibrant melanges to subtle palettes, each chosen to complement the timeless shapes that Mansted is known for.
One of Mansted’s most celebrated materials is Tibetan yak wool, a rare and luxurious fibre that comes from yaks living at some of the highest altitudes on Earth. Yak wool is incredibly soft, with a texture comparable to cashmere, yet it is also hypoallergenic, durable, and exceptionally warm.

What makes yak wool truly unique is how it’s harvested. It is collected naturally during the animals’ seasonal shedding. As the yaks rub against bushes and rocks, their soft undercoat loosens, and skilled harvesters gather the fibres without harming the animals.
The resulting knitwear is both luxurious and practical. Yak wool is lightweight but remarkably warm, making it perfect for layering or wearing on its own. Over time, the fibres naturally soften, creating garments that feel even more sumptuous with every wear. With Mansted, every piece is a timeless investment, a blend of ethical craftsmanship, comfort, and enduring style.
Best,
Aileen
